Fellow blog followers,
This post will basically speak for itself.
Many of you might know that currently we have a couple of boot alternatives on the OSX86 business.
Some might have actually seen the Chameleon posts arround here, some might’ve not, but lets continue.
What made me post this thread is probably simplicity on it’s higher state of existence.
This XPC thing, is based on DUET, something that might be quite familiar to some OSX86 users who experienced the change swap from Tiger (10.4x) to Leopard (10.5.x) at the usual forums.
First of all, say goodbye to all the emulations you’ve had on your hackintosh. This might be the real thing because it’s a fully working UEFI-System, wich gets loaded by the bootsector itself, instead of booting on a Mainboard, being loaded and consequently executed ROM-Wise. (The Mainboard Bios will actually do the post).
Using the tools I quoted above (as well as the brains), it in deed emulates flawlessly the EFI, being able to load Apple’s stock Extensible Firmware Interface dumped from a MacIntel machine.
The project is quite fresh in deed, so expect to have a “small” handicap on this. Even though, it’s quite possible to boot the OS you wish. Both, 10.5.x, 10.6.x (Yes, although being a beta version), Vista, 7, etc.
As soon as we can have some time, we will try and create a more interactive content of the bootloader itself. so hold on tight to your knickers.
If strongly requested, a portuguese version of this post, will be provided.
THE OBVIOUS DISCLAIMER:
I – WE DO NOT encourage the usage of this, neither we support hacking Apple’s Operating Systems. We therefore say that this matter is strickly a subject of discussion existing on Intel’s EFI Implementation booting on any BIOS-Based PC, as well as the EDK Project / Framework Open Source Community, BSD LICENSED.
II – Like it has been said, we do not encourage the usage of pirated software at all. This means that NO LINKS to hosting services, torrent trackers, or Newsgroups will be given here.
III – We might reply to previously moderated comments and will for sure reply to personal messages. Do notice that if any of the aspects said previously are quoted, we will not reply at all.
